There are many kinds of delicious food in China, but my favorite food is dumplings, or jiaozi in Chinese.
Dumplings are very popular, especially in northern China. They are usually eaten during festivals, like the Spring Festival. My family often makes dumplings together on weekends. My mom prepares the meat and vegetables, and my dad makes the dough. Then, we all sit together to wrap the dumplings. It is a happy family time.
I love dumplings not only because they are delicious, but also because they represent family reunion. The shape of a dumpling looks like an ancient Chinese money called yuanbao, so people believe eating dumplings can bring good luck and wealth in the new year. We can boil them or fry them. I like boiled dumplings with some vinegar. They taste so good!
Dumplings are more than just food to me. They are a taste of home and happiness. I hope I can learn how to make them myself soon.
